Solar PV Electrical Generation

Solar Installers in Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Northampton, Buckingham & surrounding areas.
At C J Richards Electrical we take environment issues seriously. Solar Electricity panels (Solar PV) generation is not new, it has been around for quite a few years.
With Solar PV electrical generation you can save on the cost of the electricity you use, make money from the electricity you generate and just do a little bit to reducing those green house gasses.
The Government has come out with a grant scheme which has been used in Europe for a few years now. This is called the electricity feed in tariff (FIT's).
At C J Richards Electrical can supply & fit tailor made Solar PV Electrical Generation systems. We are MCS accredited and financial governed by the REAL assurance scheme. We cover an approximate range from Milton Keynes of 30 miles which includes not only Milton Keynes but Aylesbury, Northampton, Wellingbrough, Buckingham and surrounding areas.
Generate your own electricity
Solar electricity systems capture the sun's energy using photovoltaic (PV) cells. The
cells convert the sunlight into electricity, which can be used to run household appliances
and lighting. PV cells don't need direct sunlight to work - you can still generate
some electricity on a cloudy day. Each panel is approximately 1.5msq.
All our systems are designed specifically for your property.
Selling your own electricity
You can make money on excess electricity by selling it back to the Grid through a
scheme called Feed in Tariffs (FITs).
Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) became available in Great Britain on 1st April 2010. And isn't
available in Northern Ireland - although this is under review.
Under this scheme energy suppliers have to (compulsory for big six suppliers) make
regular payments to householders and communities who generate their own electricity
from renewable or low carbon sources such as solar power PV systems.
How the scheme works
By installing a system from C J Richards Electrical you will be eligible to receive the FIT then you will benefit in 3 ways:
1. Generation tariff - a set rate paid by the energy supplier for each unit (or kWh) of electricity you generate. Once you join you will continue on the tariff for 25 years and the ammount will rise with inflation. The stating rate for an existing domestic property with solar PV installed is 21p/kWh.
2. Export tariff - you will receive a further 3.1p/kWh from your energy supplier for each unit you export back to the electricity grid, that is when it isn't used on site.
3. Energy bill savings - you will be making savings on your electricity bills , because generating electricity to power your appliances means you don't have to buy as much electricity from your energy supplier. The amount you save will vary.
As an example, our solar electricity system, with an installation size
of 2.5 kWp (which is 10 panels and should fit on a standard 2 or 3 bedroomed house) could generate around 2146kWh/year (based on a south facing pitched roof with no shading):
In finacial terms this would then calculate to
- £450.66 per year from the Generation Tariff
- £33.26 per year from the Export Tariff
- £154.51 per year reduction in current electricity bills.
This gives a total saving of around £638.43 per year.
This assumes 50% of the electricity generated is exported. The figure will
vary depending on how much is exported.
An install of this system would approximately cost £7,430 inc VAT. Therefore an estimated payback time (allowing for the rise an annual energy price inflation of 10% and a RPI rise of 3.584% )would be 9 years 5 months and a total profit in over 25 years of £25,083.39.

All case examples were installed before the 12th December 2011.
Therefore they recieved the higher starting rate of 43.1p/kWh for generation.
